The Voice SA season 2 Winner, Craig Lucas and guitar and beatbox duo Acoustic Element will be performing alongside Jimmy Nevis at the CapeNature Camp-Out in the Cederberg Wilderness Area, a mere 200 km’ north of Cape Town.
CapeNature and multi-award nominated South African Musician Jimmy Nevis have collaborated, creating a new tier for conservation tourism and the music industry. The two-night outdoor camping experience will take place on Valentine’s Day weekend, 15 to 17 February. Campers will enjoy soothing sounds of acoustic musical performances while surrounded by majestic mountain views and a tranquil river pool at the Algeria campsite.
“These incredibly talented artists, Acoustic Element and Craig Lucas, are great friends of mine and I am honoured to have them join me on stage. The combination of acts is so versatile that there will be something for everyone – and hopefully lots of love connections with the enchanting environment we find ourselves in too,” shares singer songwriter Jimmy Nevis.
An Intimate Campsite
The Algeria camping venue is an idyllic oasis of calm, complete with a bubbling, tree-lined river and sweeping mountain views. The intimate 48 campsites are situated alongside cool river pools and a play area for kids. Ablution facilities are within easy reach. Fire up the braai, then listen to a performance by the stars, under a clear, moonlit sky.
A World Heritage Destination
The Cederberg Wilderness Area is a World Heritage Site that is home to the rare Clanwilliam cedar and a rich array of wildlife and mountain fynbos. If you’re really lucky, you may catch a glimpse of the elusive Cape Leopard as you travel through the iconic orange rock formations that decorate the horizon. For adventure seekers, there’s plenty to do when the musicians take a well-earned rest. The Cederberg has a range of hiking trails that vary in intensity, including routes to fascinating rock formations, like the Maltese Cross and Wolfberg Arch, step back in time and visit some of the Cederberg’s remarkable examples of San and Khoi rock art.
The Live Music
Nevis explains this event is a lot more personal than previous performances. “The camp-out will reveal a whole new side to me, I’ve grown so much in my awareness in conservation through CapeNature. Algeria is one of the most stunning places I’ve ever seen, so secluded, family orientated and beautiful. It is going to be an acoustic set allowing you to become one with nature. It will be a different kind of concept.”
